It’s all fake – isn’t it?
The truth, myths and misconceptions about hypnosis.
What is hypnosis?
The hypnotic state – or “trance” is created when the mind allows itself to relax and concentrate at a heightened state of awareness. In this state, the imagination of the mind becomes magnified and suggestions given by the Hypnotist or the mind itself feel extremely real.
You’re going to make me quack like a duck…
Many believe that hypnosis is “mind-control” when in truth, all hypnosis is a form of self-hypnosis. This means that your morals can’t be challenged and you won’t do anything that you normally wouldn’t do.
What if i get stuck in hypnosis?
There is an old tale and belief that you can get stuck in hypnosis – it’s not possible! Hypnosis is a natural state our mind enters and exits throughout our day. It is similar to day dreaming and the mind naturally will come out of hypnosis or simply drift into a sleeping state.

your mind is your ally
A suggestible mind can be an ally and not an adversary – and when that happens change can come easily helping to achieve goals.
I am not hypnotizable
Many believe they are not “hypnotizable” and they lack the ability to. The reality is that everyone can be hypnotized.
Often, volunteers on stage during a comedy hypnosis show will have difficulty becoming hypnotized, but this is because of the conditions of the show (stage fright, noises, lights, excitement, etc). The hypnotists job during a comedy hypnosis show is to entertain everyone – the volunteers and the audience. For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, some volunteers are sent back to the audience if they may have trouble going under.
hypnotherapy
Hypnothereapy is recognized as a therapeutic technique by the American Medical Association (AMA), by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and by the National Health Services (NHS) in the United Kingdom. It can be beneficial in weight loss, stopping smoking, helping with insomnia and more.
One-on-One sessions allow for more time and attention to help someone become hypnotized and make meaningful life changes.
