Meet Roger

I'm Roger. I've been on stages since I was nine.

Comedy hypnotist, mentalist, and motivational speaker. Based in Lansing, Michigan. Touring wherever there's a stage and a room of willing volunteers.

The Backstory

The short version of a long road.

My first show was in a suburban living room at age nine: five minutes of magic tricks for family members who had no choice but to sit and watch. I've been on a stage of some kind ever since. Twenty-five years of reps in magic, speaking, and stagecraft, with a full career running in parallel.

I spent most of my adult life leading software engineering teams by day and performing by night. Two very different disciplines, both built on the same skill: getting a room of nervous people to trust a plan and then follow it through. Comedy hypnosis is the latest, and favorite, way I've found to do that. It's also the one that makes me laugh the hardest.

The Timeless Hypnotist is what happens when three decades of stage reps, an engineer's obsession with preparation, and a genuine love for making a room laugh all collide. I'm in Lansing, Michigan. I tour Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana by default, and I travel pretty much anywhere a real audience and a working stage are waiting.

What You Get

What you're actually hiring.

01

Preparation.

Every booking starts with an advance call. I want to know your audience, your venue, your run of show, and the inside jokes I can weave into the set. The show is better because of the prep. I'd rather over-prepare for your event than wing it and hope it lands.

02

Consent.

Every volunteer opts in. Every volunteer can stop. I say this on stage, deliberately, in every show. Nothing I do is built to embarrass a student on Monday or an executive at the next board meeting.

03

Honesty.

If I'm not the right fit for your event, I'll tell you. If I think a keynote is stronger than the show for your room, I'll tell you that too. You hire me, you get a straight answer about what's going to work.

The Talk Behind The Show

"Do it nervous."

Somewhere along the way I figured out that the single most useful sentence I know is "do it nervous." It's the three words I've been telling myself since that first magic show at nine. It's what I tell the software engineers I coach. It's what I tell the volunteers right before they walk on stage. And it's the heart of my motivational keynote, When the Curtain Rises.

The talk is the story of how I learned that the nerves aren't the problem. They're the signal that you're close to something that matters. I deliver it for corporate audiences as a keynote, and for students grades 5 through 12 as a school assembly.

When I'm Not On Stage

The non-hypnotist version.

When I'm not performing, I'm usually writing code, coaching a team, or doing the non-glamorous work of running a small business from my home office in Lansing. I'm married, I'm a dad, and I spend a fair amount of time on the road between shows and school board approvals.

I'm also the person answering your email. There's no assistant, no booking agency taking a cut, no team of reps. If you fill out the form on this site, I see it, and I'm the one writing back.

Zero-Risk Booking

Why I offer the Laugh-Out-Loud Guarantee.

I'm newer to comedy hypnosis than I am to performing in general, and I know what it's like to book an entertainer you've never seen live. Nobody should have to gamble on their biggest event of the year.

The guarantee is my way of sharing the risk. If your audience isn't laughing, I'll make it right: no fine print, no asterisk, no "well, technically." I'd rather prepare so completely that it never comes up, and I stand behind the show either way.
